The Grange, Whiting Bay
This beautiful house provides an impressive Arran retreat for homecomings and special gatherings all year round.
The Grange is a gracious late 19th century villa of cream sandstone and a rare example of the 'Arts & Crafts' movement with fine decorative features. It is a Grade 'B' listed building with Historic Scotland. It has one of the best locations in Whiting Bay, directly opposite a picturesque shallow bay, perfect for paddling and kayaking with village stores and places to dine out within a short stroll. Formerly a hotel, the owner has taken care to upgrade this property to a high standard and it is adorned with beautiful artwork throughout.
The modern oak kitchen provides informal dining and is fully equipped to manage a large house party. A butler’s passage leads off the kitchen to a formal dining room overlooking the gardens with sea views.
The drawing room features a large bay window, an ideal place for gazing out to sea with a wee dram of Arran Malt. And to help keep the peaceful atmosphere, there is a separate snug with a 32" TV and DVD player for the children to enjoy.
The first floor provides five elegant bedrooms, three with en-suite shower rooms with heated towel rails and underfloor heating; and there is a fabulous family bathroom with a roll-top bath.
The Grange is available as a self-catering holiday let for a maximum of 9 guests (plus a baby sleeping in a cot).
