Welcome to our website
Arran Holiday Retreats is owned by a professional artist who works the summers between his homes on Arran and Australia. You will see some of his vibrant works of art on display throughout the holiday properties and in selective locations around the island.
Self-catering accommodation on Arran
Traditionally a family option, self-catering has now become the choice of anyone looking for all the comforts of home and the freedom to come and go as you please. We offer 2 holiday properties in and close to Whiting Bay on the south east coast, the most sheltered and the sunniest part of the island.
The locations of the holiday properties give easy access to village amenities of Lamlash and Whiting Bay and the main village of Brodick, where the ferry arrives and departs.
Our self-catering accommodation on Arran has its own unique character or special features which are described briefly below with page links to the accommodation pages of the website for more detailed information. To enhance your experience of staying with us we provide a useful range of household essentials and complimentary toiletries from Arran (Sense of Scotland) together with lots of information about the island including guide books and maps so you can make the most of your time on this beautiful island.
Azalea House has an idyllic Arran location close to Holy Isle with numerous footpaths to explore the coastline. This extended modern house is beautifully furnished to a very high standard throughout. There is a paddock size garden (fully enclosed) with spacious decking to enjoy the breathtaking sea views.
Peacock Cottage is a traditional Arran cottage, full of character features and an ideal island retreat for 2. It has a private garden area with seating to enjoy the views of the bay.
The holiday properties are looked after by a dedicated team of housekeepers, gardeners and professional maintenance specialists who aim to keep the properties well maintained and presented to a high standard for the comfort of guests all year round. Their support is critical to the smooth running of the holiday lets and we could not manage without them.

Getting to Arran
With the new low cost ferry rates, it’s now easier on the pocket to visit Arran – around £38 for a return ticket for a car and driver. The modern roll-on-roll-off ferry sails between Ardrossan and Brodick regularly throughout the day, 7 days a week. It accommodates up to 1000 passengers and 110 cars with a short crossing of approx. 55 minutes. After the last ferry leaves Brodick for the mainland the island is quiet and peaceful until the next morning when the pattern of island living resumes with the daily deliveries, arrivals and departures. Contact Caledonian MacBrayne to book your vehicle onto the ferry.
In the summer months, there is also a smaller ferry available between Kintyre and Lochranza in the north of the island. This is a ‘turn up and go’ service, so cannot be prebooked.
Please contact us with your requirements.
The Isle of Arran
The website includes some information on the island, how to get here, places to visit and things to do and you can find out more via the Homepage by following one of the links at the top of the screen.
If you have the desire to try something new, Arran is the perfect place to climb a mountain, kayak in sheltered waters, discover the forest trails on a mountain bike or play a round of golf in one of the seven courses around the island. It is also a very accessible island with easy access to the coast and hills and short distances between the villages.
Many places are open in the winter period, including the larger hotels, cafes and restaurants. There is plenty of opportunity for some retail therapy with island crafts and gift shops and the fabulous Arran Art Gallery for unique works of art.
We hope you will find all the information you need to plan your break with us on our website, but please feel free to contact us if you need any extra information about the island.
